December 12, 1936 – August 19, 2025
Thomas Everett Washington, Lieutenant Colonel, US Army (Ret.), passed away on August 19, 2025, in Anderson, SC. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Gail Washington, stepchildren Lisa H. Rogers, Joseph D. Rogers Sr., John D. Rogers, Donna J. Rogers, Paul M. Rogers, and Mark A. Rogers and 29 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Elizabeth L. Washington, his parents Everett G. and Josephine M. Washington, his brother James M. Washington, his sister Josephine Alice Washington, and stepchildren Richard E. Rogers II, and Heatherly F. Rogers.
A Honea Path High School graduate, he went on to Clemson University for a BS in Electrical Engineering and later received an MS degree from Golden Gate University in Human Resources Management. He was a Vietnam veteran and had other overseas tours in Korea, the Philippines, France, and Germany. In addition to his 30-year military career, he taught for 10 years at Tri-County Technical College, worked as a real estate agent, taught water aerobics, and was involved in several volunteer organizations including the Anderson Literacy Association, Anderson SERTOMA Club, Meals on Wheels, and Partners for a Healthier Honea Path. He also served as a poll worker in many elections. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
The funeral service with military honors will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 412 Harden Road, Anderson SC, on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Mr. Washington's final resting place will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
