RICHARD WHITT December 25, 1937 - August 27, 2006ANDERSON, SCMr. Thomas Richard Whitt, Sr., age 68, husband of Lora Mae Madden-Whitt of 125 Cross Creek Drive, died Sunday, August 27, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in San Francisco, California. Born in Laurens County, SC on December 25, 1937, Mr. Whitt was a son of the late John Thompson Whitt and Janie Belle Medlock Whitt. Having been employed with the Woodmen of the World Insurance Society for nearly forty years, he retired as a sales manager and at the time of his death, Richard was a part-time representative. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #129, Scottish Rites, also a Shriner, member of the P.S.D.A., Square Dancers and the A-Square Dance Club and the Anderson Life Underwriters Association. Mr. Whitt was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Anderson.He is survived by his wife, Lora Mae Madden-Whitt of the home; son, Thomas Richard Whitt, Jr., and his wife, Wendy of Liberty, SC, step-son, Rev. Alan Madden and his wife, Teresa of Lawrenceville, GA; step-daughters, Lynne McCarragher and her husband, Steve and Ann Bolt and her husband, Terry all of Anderson, SC; brothers, Russell Whitt of Honea Path, SC, Larry Whitt of Pelzer, SC; sisters, Vera Bannister and Shelby Seawright, both of Honea Path, SC, Edna Robins and Cynthia Hardwick, both of Greenville, SC; two grandchildren, Trey Whitt and Mary Whitt; step-grandchildren, Hannah, Hillary and Katie Bolt, Wesley and Rebeka Madden, Mark McCarragher and his wife, Elizabeth and Paul McCarragher and a great-grandson, Griffen McCarragher. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Joe, Alfred and Wayne Whitt.The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Anderson, officiated by the Reverends Alan Madden and Neil Westbrook. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Anderson with Masonic Rites.
