Fromknecht
April 9, 1936 – March 30, 2026
Charles Thomas (Tom) Fromknecht, age 89, of Anderson, SC, entered his Heavenly home Monday, March 30, 2026.
Born April 9, 1936, in Erie, PA, he was the son of the late Walter George Fromknecht and Helen Schendler Fromknecht. Tom was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Kappes Fromknecht; a daughter, Sharon Ann Childs; and sister, Audrey Kellogg.
Tom received his undergraduate degree from Case Institute of Technology graduating in1958 in mechanical engineering. Tom went on to earn his Professional Engineer License, and his MBA at Kent State University. Tom worked until his mid-seventies, finally retiring after a long and successful career and earning several patents. Tom was a mentor to many over the years and loved investing in others. He had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. His hobbies included playing the drums and keyboard and listening to old classic radio shows. He spent hours tending to his beloved yard and helping his neighbors young and old, and it gave him great joy for many years. He loved his children beyond words, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy Jean Brock Fromknecht; children Laura Furgeson (Mark), David Fromknecht (Susan), Carolyn Williams (Robert), Amy Gannon, and Christy Fuda (Jerome); 12 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
The service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church of Anderson with Rev. Will Nickles officiating. The family will speak with guests immediately following the service in the Welcome Center.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors as Tom felt strongly that we take care of our service members.
