Arthur Thomas Tilson, Jr., age 84, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at his home.
Born in Charleston, SC on April 5, 1932, he was the son of the late Arthur Thomas Tilson, Sr. and the late Eunice Seigler Tilson. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as Staff Sergeant as a Jet Engine Specialist. After 30 years of service, Tom retired as Manager of Maintenance from the SC Port Authority. Tom was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church, which he loved dearly. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved gardening. Tom witnessed to anyone he could, when possible.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Alice W. Tilson; three children, Tom Tilson and his wife Karen of Anderson, SC, Gerald Tilson and his wife Deborah, of Saluda, NC, and Cynthia Alyce Parker and her husband Stacey, of Anderson, SC; a sister, Nancy Tilson Pate and her husband Henry who was as close to him as a brother; five grandchildren, Gerald Westly Tilson, Jr., Arthur Thomas Tilson, IV, Rebekah Lynn Tilson, William Patrick Tilson, and Rebekah Tilson Klempin; and three great-grandchildren, Aria Tilson, Charlie Tilson, and George Tilson.
The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Tilson will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with Reverend Dale Bradley officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
