Thomas Alvin Carver, age 70, of Anderson, passed away on Saturday, January 16th, 2016, at Rainey Hospice House. Born on February 13, 1945, in Anderson, Mr. Carver was the son of the late Carlton Matthew Carver and the late Margie McCurry Carver. For 53 years he was the loving and devoted husband to Mary Ellen Carver. Mr. Carver was a member of Orville Baptist Church. Mr. Carver was a retired carpenter by trade who loved working with his hands and spending time outside. Throughout Mr. Carver's illness his faith never wavered and his relationship with his savior grew stronger. Mr. Carver was a humble, gentle man and had a smile that could light up a room. Mr. Carver was a loving and wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by; his wife: Mary Ellen Carver of their home; two daughters: Tammy Carver Cole and her husband Roger of Greenville and Pamela Michelle Carver of Anderson; two brothers: Raymond Carver and his wife Elizabeth; Carlton "Butch" Carver and his wife Joy all of Anderson; one sister: Rosie Jenkins of Anderson and Pat Smith who was as close to him as a sister, also of Anderson. Also surviving are four grandchildren: (Krystal, Chase, Megan and Ciara) and 6 great-grandchildren: (Kingston, Zwayla, Jayden, Chyna, Myia and Jazmine). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Mattie Lou Jenkins; and brother: Marshall "Buddy" Carver. The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Thomas Alvin Carver will be held on Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson, SC with Rev. Wendell Bannister and Rev. Ray Carver officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Gardens.
