Tommy Lee Hanley, age 74, of Anderson, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at his home. Born June 16, 1949, in Belton, SC, he was the son of the late Lee Thomas Hanley and Frances Greer Hanley. He was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Matthew Hanley. Tommy retired from Sunbrella in 2015 and served six years in the Army National Guard. He had many interests including photography, videography, classic cars, and genealogy. He was a marathon runner and the lead vocalist and guitarist for The Penetrations in the 1960's. His favorite dessert was fudge ripple ice cream. He was a member of Lickville Presbyterian Church in Pelzer. Tommy's devotion to his family was evident in his life and he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Deborah Ellen Murphy Hanley; sons, Andrew Hanley and Adam Moore (Sara); daughters, Leah Hanley Cantrell (Steve), Lydia Hanley Scarborough (Ryan), Melanie Moore Beddingfield (Robert), and Katie Guinevere Ellis (Wesley); sister, Lynda Hanley Norris (Duck); and grandchildren, Daniel Lee Hanley (Savannah), Valerie S. Harbin (Barry), Savannah Beddingfield (Kaleb), Hunter Beddingfield, Cole Beddingfield, Parker Bente Cantrell, Jovie Scarborough, MacKenna Ellis, Anna and Karina; and former spouse, Diane Chandler. The family is planning a private celebration of life on Thursday, August 31, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association and the Walk to End Alzheimer's under Team Tom Hanley.
