William Thomas Lawton, age 77, of Iva, SC, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at NHC Healthcare Anderson.

Born July 23, 1948, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of Grace Metz Lawton and the late William Edwin "Ed" Lawton.

Tommy was a graduate of Crescent High School and retired from BASF with over 22 years of service to the company. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Christmas was his favorite holiday, and he loved playing Santa! He was a charter member of Truth Baptist Church and a faithful Christian. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and the best granddaddy! His memory will live on in those who were blessed enough to know and love him.

In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carol Erwin Lawton; daughter, Kelly Shaw (Robert); sister, Sandra Davis; and grandchildren, Andrew, Autumn, and Averi Shaw.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Truth Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Minto officiating. Burial will follow at Iva City Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 1:00 pm.
