Born in Belton, SC on September 25, 1940, Mr. Pruitt was the husband of the late Helen Ophelia Moore Pruitt and the son of the late James Carlton Pruitt and Laura Kelly Pruitt. He retired from the United States Army National Guard after twenty-five years of service. He worked in the textile industry for many years and enjoyed traveling to car shows in his restored 1951 truck. Tommy was an active member of Truth Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served as an usher. Survivors include his sons, Brett Kavanaugh and Rex Pruitt; daughters, Vickie Reed, Karen Holcombe and Darlene Frost, all of Anderson and Lisa Lynch of Clemson; brother, Sidney Pruitt of Belton; sisters, Gale Hunter and Debby Jones, of Belton; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his dear friend, Gerry Wiggins of Anderson and his loving puppy dog, 'Blackie'. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 1:00pm at Truth Tabernacle Baptist Church officiated by the Reverend Hudson White. Interment will follow in Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Mr. Pruitt will be placed in the church at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday.
