MAYER July 07, 1904 - November 15, 2005ANDERSON, SCMrs. Velma Hood Mayer, age 101, of 2503 Saxony Drive, Anderson, SC, died Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at the Hospice House in Anderson, SC.Born in Gadsden, Alabama, Mrs. Mayer was a graduate of Converse College and also did graduate work in Education and Library Science at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She taught in public schools and later served as a High School Librarian. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and Circle Leader. She was a member of the Mary Holler Bible Class. She was also a life member of the Anderson County Woman's Club.She was the widow of Luther Voigt Mayer and the daughter of the late Della Thornton and William Stephen Hood.She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lee Brown Taylor (Nell) of Anderson; three grandchildren, Barbara Taylor Semchenko and her husband, Ed Semchenko of Apex, NC Dr. Lee Brown Taylor, Jr., and his wife, Luanne Smith Taylor of Spartanburg, SC and Richard Mayer Taylor and his wife, Mary Helen Taylor of Honea Path, SC; six great-grandchildren, Dr. Lee Brown Taylor III and his wife, Tiffany Fitch Taylor of Charlotte, NC, Kathryn Taylor of Charlotte, NC, Julie Taylor of Atlanta, GA, Ryan Semchenko of Apex, NC and Will and Meredith Taylor of Honea Path, SC.The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2005 at 3:30 pm at St. John's United Methodist Church with Dr. William R. Childs officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, SC.The family will receive friends in the Parlor of St. John's United Methodist Church from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday.The family will be at the home of her daughter, 2000 East River Street, Anderson, SC.PAGE TWO OBITUARY: MRS.
