Obituary

Velma Massey Woodson, of Anderson, SC, spent her first day in heaven on December 1, 2022. She was born on March 20, 1923, to the late Oliver and Mary Jane Massey. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two daughters, Mrs. Carol Petty and husband Jenks of Greenville, SC, and Mrs. Janice Wilson and husband Rick of Pendleton, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Mr. Clarence Woodson. Velma was retired from Milliken Company after 30 years of service, and she was a devoted member of Oakwood Baptist Church. Velma loved gardening, reading, quilting, crocheting, and was a fabulous southern cook. She had four precious granddaughters: Dana Lowery, Brooke Cremmins, Brittney Brown, and Makenzie Wilt. She was blessed with 7 great grandchildren with one on the way: Olivia Lowery, Addison Lowery, Camden Cremmins, Hudson Cremmins, Tanner Brown, Presley Brown, and Caroline Wilt. Velma had five sisters in love: Sandra Hanna, Ginny Galloway, Jane Able, Mary Lombardo, and Beth Gundlach. These women provided loving care and companionship that enriched her life. The family will forever be grateful for their devotion. The service to celebrate Velma's life will be held at Oakwood Baptist Church on December 5, 2022, at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to World Mission Ministries, P.O. Box 12609, Oklahoma City, OK 73157 earmarked for Life Camp Orphanage in Monrovia, Liberia.
