Cathey, died Thursday, July 29, 2010 at her residence.Born in Anderson County, SC on February 7, 1926, Mrs. Cathey was a daughter of the late James Floyd Davis and Agnes Matilda Haynes Davis. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a homemaker.Survivors include her son, Ron Cathey of Simpsonville; daughters, Carol Cathey, Donna Cathey and Lynn Cathey of the home; Joan Hatcher and her husband, Charles of Anderson; sister, Cleo Foster of Anderson; three grandchildren, Jennifer Atkins and husband, Mike, Andrea Dalby and husband, Eric, and Jonathan Hatcher and wife, Elizabeth and two great-grandchildren, Madison Atkins and Liam Hatcher.In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Vera Louise Cathey; two brothers, Boyce and Henry Davis; sister, Virginia Herring Bowman and, eight half brothers and sisters.The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Curtis Bundy. Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.Flowers are optional.
