Vera Slaton Evans, age 93, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at her home. Born in Hart County, GA, on June 1, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Worley Patron Slaton "W.P." and the late Cleo Howell Slaton. She was a 1942 graduate of Hart County High School and retired from the Carolina Mop Company in Anderson after many years of service. Vera was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Starr. She is survived by her children, Fred Evans and his wife Sue, of Anderson, SC Dennis Evans and his wife Jackie, of Belton, SC , and Ricky Evans, of Hartwell, GA, and Brenda Lovinggood and her husband Donald of Elberton, GA; two sisters, Vivian Teasley, of Athens, GA and Edith Burriss, of Iva, SC; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. with Reverend Jason Scales, and Reverend James Gunn officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.
