Vera Horne Smith, age 91, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Westminster, SC, she was the daughter of the late George Shead and the late Alma Geneva Smith Shead. She was employed with Wamsutta and was of the Holiness faith. She is survived by her children, Norma Jean Harbin, Sara Ann Duncan, Sandra Sue Jordan and her husband Frankie, and Doug Horne and his wife Dana; a brother, George Shead; two sisters, Jean Thomas and Betty Jo Collier; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Smith; and nine brothers and sisters. The Graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Monday, February 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Mike Harrell officiating. The family will gather for a time of visitation following the service at Forest Lawn.
