Vera A. Taylor, age 84, of Iva, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, after a long illness, and is now reunited in Heaven with her loved ones, and in the loving arms of her savior Jesus Christ.

Born August 30, 1939, in Anderson County, SC, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas Nimmons and Hazel Karr Nimmons. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby R. Smith; second husband, Mabry T. Taylor; son, Randy Smith; daughter, Cindy Smith Dunn; and sister, Faye Porter.

Vera, affectionately known as "Wimp", was retired from JP Stevens in Clemson. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and flowers. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family immensely. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Bill Smith and his wife Cheryl of Iva; sister, Frances Porter of Iva; grandchildren, Jennifer Crawford and her husband James of Starr, Erika Massey and her husband Seth of Iva, and Randall Smith and his wife Collyn of Iva; great grandchildren, Casandra, Kenlee, Jake, Stella, and Landry; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 2:00-3:15 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:30 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Charlie Howell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family will be at the home of her granddaughter, Erika Massey, 3380 Smith McGee Rd., Iva, SC.
