Obituary

Edgar Vernon Lowe, age 89, husband of Lillie Mae Smith Lowe of 730 Mt. Bethel Church Road, died Sunday, January 16, 2011, at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Anderson County to the late Jule Harrison Lowe and Janie Bannister Lowe, he was an Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Lowe was a lifetime carpenter and farmer and formerly worked in textiles. He was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church and the Honea Path Masonic Lodge.In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Tommy Lowe; a half-brother, Odell Lowe; step-brother, Noah Lee Allen; sisters, Lillie Wilson and Edith Higdon; a step-sister, Rachel McGaha and a special caregiver, Mary Alice McGaha. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a step-brother, Bill Allen, sisters, Avis Fields and Idell Ashley; and step-mother, Ossie Allen Lowe.The Funeral Service will be held at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ricky Rice and Dr. D. Ron Culbertson officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Military Honors.The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt.
