Vernon R. Pope of Anderson, SC went to be with the Lord at the age of 87 on October 17, 2017. Vernon was a devoted husband and father and is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elena of the home and a son, Richard Pope of Pendleton, SC. He was preceded in death by his other son, Steven Pope. Vernon was a US Air Force veteran and made a career in textiles after receiving his degree from North Carolina State University. He was a long time employee of Chiquola Mill in Honea Path, SC. Vernon was mechanically inclined and loved to work on cars and trucks in his spare time. The family will receive friends from 12:15 pm-1:00 pm Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with funeral service following at 1:00 pm with Dr. Dennis Tedder officiating.
