Vernon Glenn Seawright, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Anderson, SC, on October 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Clarence Vernon Seawright and the late Jessie Burton Seawright. He attended Erskine College. Vernon proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer 2nd Class Torpedoman during World War II in the Pacific Theater and the Korean Conflict. He retired from Duke Power. He is survived by his children, Anthony Seawright, of Piedmont, SC, and Deborah Seawright, of Houston, TX; a sister, Jean Bannister, of Iva, SC; a grandchild, Justin Tunnicliff; and a cousin, Steve Seawright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marion McGill Seawright; and a sister, Louise Bryant. The Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. at Iva City Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Gray officiating.
