Vickie Marlene Zajc (nee Nichols), known better as Vick or Mama by most and "Vicky" by only one (Joe Don McMahan), passed away far too soon but peacefully on April 29, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maudie Nichols (Nanny-but Grammy to most) and John Nichols, Sr. (Poppy), as well as her brother, John Nichols, Jr., and her great-nephew, David Adam Graley. She is survived by her only daughter, Shelly Ann DeSmith (nee Zajc) and son-in-law, Jonathan Edwin DeSmith, Sr., as well as her grandson, Jonathan Edwin DeSmith, Jr. Her beloved siblings will long for her infectious smile, Larry Nichols (Kathy), Bradley Nichols, Cassie Robinson (Tim) and Kyle Nichols. She is also survived by her beautiful nieces, Crystal Graley (Sean O'Conner, Sr.), Drema Graley (Lorenzo Knowles), Cory Nichols (Lafeal Swanigan); her great-nephews and great-niece, Sean O'Conner, Jr., Dominic O'Conner, Ryan Danger O'Conner, Darien Sanders, DeShawn Sanders, Lafeal Swanigan, Jr., and De'Mya Knowles; her "adopted daughters" Lindy Sanchez, Carol Shaffer and Judy Stepp; and lastly, her life-mate of 30 years, Michael Bardsley. She was a feisty soul, but lived every moment of every day for those that she loved and cared for. Until her final moments here in her temporary home, she was grateful for every day and everything that she was blessed with. Mama was ready, although we were not. (Always full of surprises…) The love and compassion that she possessed and extended not just to her family and friends, but ALL who entered her life was un-earthly.
