Viola Gilreath Brooks, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born and raised on the family farm in Pendleton, SC, she was the daughter of the late David William Gilreath and the late Lillie Harper Gilreath. After high school she moved to Arlington, VA where she was a morning report clerk at the headquarters for the United States Marines. Viola later moved back to Anderson and graduated from Anderson College. After college she worked at several Anderson area companies as a bookkeeper. Viola was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her son, Ronald A. Brooks, Ret GYSGT, USMC and his wife Robin; and one grandchild, Andrea Tamar Brooks, of Akron, OH. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry A. "Gus" Brooks; and two brothers, Charles and William Gilreath. The Funeral service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel on Monday, October 19 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Dwight Greene officiating.
