Cordell, resident of Lake Point Assisted Living, formerly of Don Avenue in Anderson, SC, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Toccoa, GA, she was a daughter of the late John L. Smith and Ida Camp Smith. She retired from Orr-Lyons Mill after 47 years of service. She was a charter member and the oldest member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Hartwell, GA. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Taliaferro and her husband Tommie of Prince George, VA and Peggy Taylor and her husband Raymond of Anderson; five grandchildren, Lynn Moore, Tracy Taliaferro, Gregory, Bradley and Russell Taylor; six great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence, Floyd and Hoke Smith and sisters, Mittie Mae Smith and Minnie Lou Dodgens. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverends Terry Meeks and Bill Davidson.
