Virgie B. Poteat, age 95, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016, at Southern Oaks in Piedmont.
Born in Marion, NC on March 8, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Holmes Biggerstaff and the late Elizabeth Lona Humphries Biggerstaff. She was a retired textile worker and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three children, George Michael Poteat and his wife Gail, Gary Neal Poteat and his wife Susan, and Elizabeth Ann Snead and her husband Richard; two sisters, Margie Hoppes and Mildred Hoyle; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Austin, Martha Hester, and Elsie Frazier; and two brothers, William and Jack Biggerstaff.
The memorial service will be held at New Hope United Methodist Church at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church, 233 New Hope Road, Anderson, SC or to Paladin Hospice.
