Virginia Nell King Cordell, age 94, of Anderson, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017, at AnMed Health Medical Center with her family by her side. Born on May 10, 1922, in Newry, SC, she was the daughter of the late Timothy Paul King and the late Willie Collins King. For fifty-three years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late William "Bill" Fred Cordell until his death in 1993. Mrs. Cordell was a graduate of Anderson Girls' High School. She was a weaver at Orr Mill and later worked at Michelin. Also she was employed at Hamricks and by Anderson School District V where she worked at various school lunch rooms. Virginia was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a long time and faithful member of Orville Baptist Church for as long as her health would permit. Mrs. Cordell was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Other survivors include her daughter, Fredda Jean Cordell Verner and her husband, Jim, of Belton, SC; three grandchildren Kim, Paul and Tim Bridges; three great-grandchildren, Chandler, Bailey, and Kendall Bridges; a niece, Karen Sisk. Also surviving are very special friends, Mrs. Juanita Thomas and her family. In addition to her parents and her husband, Bill, Virginia was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Sisk, and a niece Paula Burton. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, January 12, 2017, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with Rev.
