Virginia McKee Evans, age 96, of Iva, SC, loving wife to the late William Carl Evans for 75 years, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021, at NHC Healthcare Anderson. Born June 22, 1925, in Iva, SC, she was the daughter of the late Horace Lee McKee and Mary Etta Broome McKee. She worked in textiles, retiring from Wamsutta Mills in Anderson. Virginia was an active member of Iva First Wesleyan as long as her health permitted. She is survived by her four children, daughters Eleanor Lynch (James) of Monroe, GA, Betty Brown (A.N.) of Iva, SC, Mary Ethridge of Starr, SC, and son, J. Carl Evans of Starr, SC; sister, Ellen Treece; brother, Roy McKee; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Evans; great-granddaughter, Meghan Maki; brother, Louis McKee; and sister, Edna Hall. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 29, 2021, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow visitation in the Chapel on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tony Smith officiating. A private burial will follow at Iva City Cemetery.
