HAMPTONSeptember 13, 1923 - NovemBER 4, 2009ANDERSON, SC ' Virginia Lee Majeski Hampton, of 121 Alice Drive and recently of North Pointe Assisted Living died on November 4, 2009 at the Rainey Hospice House. She was the widow of Worth C. Hampton who died in 1987.Born on September 13, 1923, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Mattie Hall Majeski and the last grandchild of Martin and Annie Majeski (Macijewski) of Flat Rock Community.In the 1960's she went to school and became an LPN ' finishing in the top of her class and having graduated in the first LPN class in Anderson. She worked at Anderson Memorial Hospital until 1977 when she retired. Worth and Virginia traveled in their RV and also joined the Square Dance Club in Anderson. She continued to travel at every opportunity after Worth passed away. Mrs. Hampton was a member of Flat Rock Presbyterian Church for most of her life but was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson for the last twenty-five years.Virginia is predeceased by her husband, Worth C. Hampton; a son, Don Hampton and his wife, Nancy; one grandson; one sister, Myrtle Majeski; and one brother, Carl Majeski.Mrs. Hampton is survived by her children: a daughter, Ellen H. Dickson and husband, James of Anderson; a son, James M. Hampton and wife, Nancy of Anderson; grandchildren: Tim Estes (wife, Adina), Kelly Griffis (husband, Stacey), and Holly Glenn (husband, Mark); step grandchildren: Pam Waller (husband, Kris) and William Dickson. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren who loved her very much.A Graveside Service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Old Silver Brook Cemetery conducted by Dr. Dennis R. Tedder and the Reverend Stacey Griffis. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday, November 6, 2009.The family will be at the home of James & Ellen Dickson, 129 Alice Drive, Anderson.Memorials may be made in her memory to Hospice of The Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or to the First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, 302 West Whitner Street, Anderson, SC 29624.A message of condolence may be sent by visiting www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.com.The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
