Virginia Gaines Jones, age 88, of Anderson, SC, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Rainey Hospice House. Born August 23, 1934, in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late William Clarence Gaines and Azalee Spears Gaines. She was married to Claude W. Jones, Jr. until his death in 2016. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Moorhead; and brother, Doug Gaines. Virginia worked for the Anderson County Economic and Development Office for over 21 years before retiring. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Anderson. She is survived by her daughter, Carol "Lynn" Porter (Leroy) of Anderson, SC; son, Randy "Bo" Jones (Mary Lou) of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Lindsey Branyon (Mikey) and Matthew Branyon (Shanon) both of Anderson, SC; sister-in-law, Jerry Gaines of Anderson, SC; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Dr. Josh Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621. The family will be at their respective homes.
