Virginia Bertie Beard Jones, 94, of Anderson, SC, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 at her home. Born December 2, 1924 in Calhoun Falls, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Washington Beard and Estelle Cobb Beard. She was married to the late Franklin Sanders Jones. Virginia graduated from Girls High School and went on to graduate from Anderson College and Erskine College with a degree in education. She worked for many years as the assistant to the Dean of Engineering at Clemson University. She also had worked for Anderson School District Five as both a teacher and an administrator. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and had been attending Varennes Heights Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Sandy Jones (Leslie) of Columbus, OH; daughter, Patricia J. Elsea (John) of Anderson, SC; sister, MarLene Loehr of Hendersonville, NC; and grandchildren, Max Jones and Leo Jones. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Harold Beard. A private family service will be held at a later date.
