Virginia Audrey Burton King, age 90, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at her home.

Born July 26, 1934, in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Sloan Burton and Nettie Herring Burton. She was married to Dennis Clayton King until his death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Walter, Levis, and Boyce Burton; and sister, Ruth Erwin.

Virginia formerly worked with the Anderson Independent Mail as a proofreader. She was a member of Homeland Park Baptist Church. Some of her favorite things were reading, music, Folly Beach, Diet Mountain Dew, sweets, theater, concerts and chair yoga at First Presbyterian Church. Most of all, Virginia loved her family beyond measure, especially her two granddaughters who were the light of her life.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Martin (Dean) of Anderson and Denise King and spouse of Greenville; granddaughters, Delaney Martin and Reagan Martin both of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Agape Palliative and Hospice Care and to Ms. Earline for her special care and friendship.
