Virginia "Pat" Allen Simpson Pelfrey, age 72, formerly of 202 Edwards Drive, Anderson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Rainey Hospice House, with family by her side. Born on January 1, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Jehue Simpson and the late Ressie Louise Stewart Simpson. For fifty-three years she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Thomas Leroy Pelfrey, Sr. until his death 2011. Mrs. Pelfrey attended Anderson Girls' High School. For seventeen years, she was employed by Appleton Mill. Pat was a devoted homemaker and she loved to cook and bake cakes and pies. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Those left to carry on her legacy include two sons, Thomas L. Pelfrey, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Anderson, and David Alan Pelfrey and his wife, Lynn, of Townville; a brother, James Simpson and his wife, Margaret, of Belton; two sisters, Minnie Whitfield and her husband, Bill of Anderson and Ruby Brewer and her husband, Harold, of Anderson; four grandchildren, Crystal King and husband, Cliff, of Anderson, Ashley Chadwick and husband, Tim of Anderson, Joshua Pelfrey of Townville and Jennifer Pelfrey of Townville; two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Thomas King of Anderson; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Pat will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents and her husband, Leroy, Pat was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Donald Simpson, and a sister, Margaret McMahan. The family wishes to thank the staff of National Health Care Anderson for the loving care they provided Mrs. Pelfrey during her residency there. The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Pelfrey will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015, at 12 noon at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Herbert Moore and Mr. Jim Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
