Virginia Reid, 88, of Anderson, SC, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born September 22, 1931 in Durham, NC, she was a daughter of the late Vernon William Parnell and the late Vivian Teague Parnell. She was married to William Fred Reid, Jr. until his death in 1995. Virginia was kind, compassionate, sincere, and empathetic; all noble qualities that led to her lifelong profession. For 42 years, she dedicated herself to serving many as a registered nurse. After retirement, she served as a part-time School Nurse in School District 5, Anderson, SC and volunteered as Certified Parish Nurse (now known as Faith Community Nurse) at Boulevard Baptist Church for 20 years. She is survived by her sons, William Fred Reid, III (Marella) and David Mark Reid, both of Anderson, SC; daughters, Diana Reid Lowe (Robert) of Seneca, SC and Mary Beth Dorn of Coppell, TX; brother, Bob Parnell (May) of Mebane, NC; grandchildren, Hunter Reid (Laura), Claire Pearson (Kyle), Katie Laughridge (Jamie), Krista Sanders (Matthew), Matthew Reid, Allison Scally (Mae), Julie Dorn, Michael Dorn, Kerri Dilworth, Kelly Gramajo (Justin); and great grandchildren, Stella, Cora, Van, Ryann, Walker, Sullivan and Foster. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Vernon Parnell; sister, Doris Parnell; and half-brother, Joe Teague. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Boulevard Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at the church at 2:00 pm with Reverend Austin Carty and Reverend Robert Lowe officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boulevard Baptist Church, 700 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 296921.
