VIVIAN E. SMITH
December 20, 1919 - April 23, 2012
Vivian E. Smith, age 92, of 204 Patterson Road, Liberty, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 23, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Frank C. Elrod and the late Myrtie Cole Elrod. She was married to the late J. T. Smith who died in 2000.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church. Vivian was a nursery assistant at Anderson Memorial Hospital, a position from which she retired after many years of service. She had an abiding love and fondness for her pets and for animals in general, all of which gave her much enjoyment.
Survivors include her son, Curtis R. Smith of Liberty; 7 grandchildren, Mark Smith (Sandie) of Taylors, SC, Scott Smith (Heather) of Newhall, CA, Eric Smith of Morgantown, WV, Denise Stewart (Sammy) of Liberty, SC, Rita Watts of Greenville, Shanon Doskocil (Mark) of San Antonio, TX, and Shannon Shepherd (Glen) of Georgetown, TX. Also surviving are 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Wilma Smith of Georgetown, TX, and a very special man who was raised in the home and who was like a son, Stan Smith (Alane) of Anderson.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Vivian was predeceased by a son, Donald M. Smith, brothers, Frank Elrod, Jr. and Shirley Elrod, and a beloved daughter-in-law, Irma Smith.
A graveside service celebrating and honoring the life of Vivian Smith will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2 PM at New Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson, with Rev. Dr. Kirt Mitchell officiating. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends Saturday at the graveside following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Smith to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
