Obituary

WALLACE CANNON April 18, 1923 - September 5, 2012 ANDERSON, SC Wallace Wilbur Cannon, age 89, husband of Nancy Pruitt Cannon, of 115 Stacy Court, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at his home. Born in Pelzer, SC he was the son of the late Carl Wilbur Cannon and the late Edith Gertrude Davis Cannon. He proudly served his country during WWII in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge. He worked and operated theaters in the Pelzer, Pendleton and Anderson area for many years. Mr. Cannon was one of the original light production operators at the Greenville Auditorium, The Bi-Lo Center and The Peace Center. He was a member of Asbury Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and the groundskeeper of his church for over 21 years. He was a member of the Pendleton Masonic Lodge and the American Legion Post #113. In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is also survived by a special nephew, Paul Fields of Greenville, SC and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Ann Parker and Wilma Faye Walker. The Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Asbury Baptist Church with Reverend Delennon Stowe officiating. Interment will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with military honors. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or Asbury Baptist Church Building Fund, 1509 Asbury Park Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
