Obituary

Walter Bert DeBerry, 89, of Anderson, S.C was born June 16, 1924, in Marianna Mississippi to Preston and Etta Jones DeBerry. He died June 13, 2014 at Anderson Memorial Hospital in Anderson, S.C. He was a retired employee of Sullivan Motors and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Anderson, He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. Bert was a Life member of Hiram Lodge #68, Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina and an avid golfer for many years. He enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves Baseball and especially his affection for their pet cat, Missy. He leaves his devoted wife of 67 years, Reba Todd DeBerry; son, Michael T. DeBerry of Tucker, Georgia; daughter, Candace A. DeBerry Cantrell and husband Don Cantrell of Columbia, S.C.; grandson, Christopher Cantrell of San Francisco, California; grandson Todd Cantrell and wife Kristianna Leventis Cantrell of Simpsonville, S.C.; and great grandson Samuel Cantrell. Bert was preceded in death by six brothers, Jake, Bob, Norman, Cecil, Arlis, and David DeBerry; four sisters, Elizabeth McClatchy, Katherine Cassady, Lurline Walker, and Annie DeBerry Cannon. A Graveside Service to celebrate and honor the life of Bert DeBerry will be held Monday, June 16, 2014, on his 90th birthday, at 2 p.m. at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens following the service. The family and friends will meet at The McDougald Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. and will process to Oaklawn for the Graveside Service.
