Walter O. Loescher, Sr. Anderson, SC Walter O. Loescher, Sr., age 96, a long-time resident of Anderson, passed away on January 6, 2015 at the Rainey Hospice House after a short illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Loescher was born on May 30, 1918 in Rochester, NY to the late Charles Loescher and the late Mary Loescher. After attending the University of Michigan and receiving a BA in political science, he served for four and a half years with the US Army in the South Pacific during World War II. Following a master's degree at the University of Michigan, Mr. Loescher began a long career with US State Department as a foreign service officer that included postings in Germany, Ethiopia, Vietnam, and Bolivia. After retirement, from the federal government, Mr. Loescher enjoyed a second career as owner and general manager of Beall Associates, Anderson, a personnel consulting firm. Mr. Loescher volunteered with Meals on Wheels for many years and continued to follow politics and sports avidly. He enjoyed reading, writing and playing golf with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Christel Loescher, of Anderson, SC; three children and their spouses, John and Susan Trumbule, of Crofton, MD, Walter and Carol Loescher, of Anderson, SC, and Lucky and Birgit McDade, of Columbia, SC; and ten grandchildren, Mary Margaret, Lindsay, Carolyn, Kara, Eric, Elizabeth, Katie, Eddie, Matthew, and Lydia. The Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Larry Hartsell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private family interment will be held at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran's Cemetery.
