The McDougald Funeral Home 2211 North Main Street Anderson, South Carolina 29621 864-224-4343 OBITUARY: ANDERSON, SC WATSON LESLEY BANNISTER May 15, 1925 - September 7, 2013 Watson Lesley Bannister, age 88, of 309 Brenwood Drive, went to be with the Lord upon his death at his home on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Marcus Albert Bannister and the late Mary Lou Simpson Bannister. For 50 years, he was the loving and devoted husband of the late Jeannette Shaw Bannister until her death in 1994. Lesley worked in textiles for many years and retired from Wellington Mill in 1987. He was a faithful and devoted member of Marshall Memorial United Methodist Church. He loved his family and his church. Survivors include a son, Watson Bannister, Jr. and his wife, Jan; 2 daughters, Delores Stewart and her husband Grover, and Karen Fant; a daughter-in-law, Marion Bannister; 6 grandchildren Ivy Bannister, Tonya Gilbert, Angie Dunlap, Lesley Murphy, Jeannie Fant, and Paul Bannister; also surviving are 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, Jeannette, Mr. Bannister was preceded in death by a son, Ansel Ray Bannister and a brother, Ellis Bannister. A service to honor and celebrate the life of Lesley Bannister will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013, at 3 PM, at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Charlie Brookshire officiating. A private interment with family will be held at a later time. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home Monday from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM.
