He was the retired manager and operator of several Anderson Area services stations. He was a United States Navy veteran and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple.Survivors include his wife, Joan Vassar of the home; sons, Gary Lamar Martin and Brandon Vassar, both of Anderson, SC; a brother, Donald Vassar of Anderson, SC; a sister, Nellie Sue Cohen of Port St. Lucie, FL and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home by the Reverend Sam Duncan.
