Wayland Boyce "Buster" Hiers, Jr., age 91, of 300 Lyonswood Drive, went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, April 29, 2017, upon his death at his residence. Born on March 21, 1926, in Atlanta, GA, he was a son of the late Wayland Boyce Hiers, Sr. and the late Myra Emily Swindell Hiers. For forty-one years, Mr. Hiers was married to the late Jane Hallman Hiers until her death in 1991. On November 3, 2014 he married his wife Janie Hunter Hiers of Anderson. Mr. Hiers graduated from Russell High School in East Point, Georgia and graduated from Southern Tech in Atlanta, Georgia. He served his country proudly as a US Marine during WW II and during the Korean Conflict. Buster was a master builder building thousands of homes in the Atlanta area. He was a devout follower of Jesus Christ. His life priorities included being a Godly man, a loving husband and father, a master carpenter, and a proud Marine. In addition to his wife, Janie, Buster is survived by two sons, Jeff S. Hiers and his wife, Debbie of Dodge City, KS, and Kenny Hiers and his wife, Carol of Gainesville, GA; a daughter, Cindy Fedack and her husband, Dave of Douglasville, GA; a step-son, Fred Hunter and his wife, Cindy of Anderson; a step daughter, Ann Hollingsworth and her husband, Leland of Williamston; one brother, Don Hiers and his wife Carol of Marietta, GA; and a sister, Ann Hiers of Potomac, MD and her companion, Marie Henry. Buster is also survived by his five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his first wife, Jane Hallman Hiers, Mr. Hiers was preceded in death by a brother, the late Jack Hiers. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mr. Hiers will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the McDougald Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff S. Hiers and Jay Sloan officiating. Interment will follow at M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery with Military honors.
