Wendell Ruben Wilson, Sr., age 79, husband of Bobbie Tabor Wilson of Anderson, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016 at his residence. Born in Anderson, SC on November 1, 1936, Mr. Wilson served in the United States Army National Guard Company A- First Battalion and worked for American Bakeries for 25 years, he then worked for Calvary Baptist Church for 10 years and retired from Orrville Baptist Church after 20 years of service. He was a lifelong member of Long Branch Baptist Church. He loved and adored his family and especially his grandchildren who called him "Papa" In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by sons, Wendell Wilson, Jr., (Melody) and Randy Wilson (Robin). daughers; Sheri Kerhulas (Chuck Clancy), Cathy Strickland( Crayton Shirley) and Julie Artman (Doug); sisters, Mildred Branyon, Linda Locke and Dianne James; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Prue Wilson and Marjorie Clark Wilson; brothers, Leland Wilson and Francis Clark; sisters, Eva Lee Whitmire and Juanita Clinkscales. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Dr. Wendell Bannister and Rev. Wayne Watson. Interment will follow in Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
