Wilburn Lanier King, husband of the late Joan McFall King, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late M.L. "Jack" King and the late Carrie Mangum King. He was a graduate of Clemson University. Wilburn proudly served his country in WWII with the Army Air Corp, stationed in Burma, India. He was President of M.L. King and Sons Cotton Merchants. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson.
He is survived by his children, Stan L. King and his wife Kelly of Anderson, and Carolyn King of Birmingham, AL; two grandchildren, Aimee McIntosh of Phoenix, AZ and Leigh Henninger of Chas, SC; one great-grandchild, Liam McIntosh of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Frances Davis of Charlotte, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased siblings include, S.T. King, Susie K. Britton, Tommie King, and Emily K. Erskine.
The Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Old Silver Brook Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Dennis Tedder and Reverend Caroline East Berardi officiating. The family will gather for a time of visitation following the service.
The family will be at the residence of his son, Stan King.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
