MAYS MERCK November 3, 1925 - February 6, 2006STARR, SCMr. Wilfred Mays Merck, age 80 of Starr, husband of the late Jeanette McCoy Merck, died Monday, February 6, 2006 at the Hospice House in Anderson, SC.Born in Townville, SC on November 3, 1925, Mr. Merck was a son of the late Corbet Merck and Dolly Dickerson Merck. He was retired from CMS Automotive with more than 30 years of service as an auto mechanic. He was a United States Navy World War II veteran and a member of the V.F.W. Post # 5996. Mr. Merck was of the Baptist Faith.Survivors include his daughters, Sheila Self of Starr, SC, Debbie Collins of Anderson, SC and Delaine Hollingsworth of Easley, SC; brothers, Swain Merck of Pendleton, SC, Jenkins Merck of Belton, SC and Charles Merck of Anderson, SC; sisters, Lucille Swaney of Pendleton, SC, Louise Parker, June Lyles and Frances Parker, all of Anderson, SC and Bobbie Cothran of Central, SC. Eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also survive him. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home by the Reverend Sam Duncan. Interment will follow in New Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson, SC.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.The family will be at the home of his daughter, Debbie Collins, 1059 Cove Circle, Anderson, SC.The family suggests flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
