William "Bill" Lee Barnes, age 69, of 111 Pine Tree Lane, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015, at Emory University Hospital in Decatur, GA. He was surrounded by his loving family as he left this life. Mr. Barnes was born in Anderson on June 1, 1946, the son of the late Marshall Barnes and the late Mauddane Mize Barnes. For almost fifty-three years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Mary McCoy Barnes of the residence. Bill was a graduate of Palmetto High School and then attended Tri-County Technical College where he received an associate's degree. He was employed in the maintenance department at Owens Corning, a position from which he retired after thirty-seven years of service. Subsequently he was employed at Sterling Printing Company for several years. Mr. Barnes was a member of Hiram Lodge # 68 and was also a Shriner. Bill was an avid golfer and a member of Pine Lake Golf Club. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his beloved wife, Mary, Bill is survived by two daughters, Angela B. Watkins and her husband Chris, and Lynn B. Bryant and her husband, Rodney, all of Anderson; four grandchildren, Amber Wiley (Mike), Tyler Watkins (Julia), Lea Hoey (Nick), and Darren Bryant; four great-grandchildren, Camryn and Connor Wiley and Colton and Lucas Watkins; a sister, Mary Timms of Belton, SC; and his mother-in-law, Sarah Elizabeth McCoy, of Starr, SC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Watkins. Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of William Barnes will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015, at 5 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Roger Kendrick officiating.
