William Givens Binford, age 90, of Anderson, SC, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. Born April 21, 1931, in Morganfield, KY, he was the son of the late Henry and Lillie Anderson Binford. William was a veteran of the United States Army and a graduate of Georgia Tech with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft for 16 years followed by Michelin where he retired after 19 years with the company. He was an avid pilot for over 50 years with a Master Pilot Award. He was a water skiing enthusiast who taught hundreds of people to water ski over the years and also enjoyed snow skiing. William enjoyed traveling the world having visited all seven continents and was an inventor. He is survived by his wife, Kay Ruth Carroll Binford; sons, Steve A. Binford of Morganfield, KY, and William C. Binford (Teresa) of Anderson, SC; and grandchildren, Jaclyn R. Stephenson (Tony), William C. Binford, and Jonathan S. Binford; and great grandchildren, JT and Aubree. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Brian W. Binford. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home.
