WILLIAM HOMER COKER March 31, 1925 - January 12, 2006SILVER SPRING, MARYLANDMr. William Homer Coker, age 80, of 13817 Blair Stone Lane and husband of Joan Martin Coker died on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD.Born in Woodruff, SC on March 31, 1925, Mr. Coker was a son of the late Samuel Hughes Coker, Sr., and Lois Gwinn Coker. He was retired from the Hospital and Health Care Administration. He was a United States World War II Army veteran having served in the Infantry. He was a member of the Army Medical Corps, Public Health Service, American Hospital Association, American College of Health Care Executives, Association of Military Surgeons of the United States and a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Wheaton, MD and the Crowder Bible Class.In addition to his wife, Joan Martin Coker, he is survived by a daughter, Sally Faith Coker Brogan and her husband Robert Brogan of Rockville, MD; a brother, David Gwinn Coker of Spartanburg, SC; two sisters-in-law, Estella Coker of Woodruff, SC and Sybil M. Todd of Anderson, SC; a brother-in-law, James R. Simpson of Columbia, SC and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Hughes Coker, Jr. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Long Branch Baptist Church officiated by the Reverend Wayne Watson and Dr. Don Wilson. Interment will follow in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Wayne Watson and the Reverend Chris Arries officiating.
