He served in the United States Air Force and in the Civil Air Patrol. He attended First Baptist Church of Iva and volunteered with Community Food Bank, First Baptist Church,Iva.Survivors include his sons, Mark Garrett and Roger Garrett both of Cocoa, FL, a daughter, Kathy Baines of Melbourne, FL; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Blakely and her husband Bill, of Abbeville, SC, Ileen Rector and her husband Procter, of Greenville, SC, and a loving friend, Betty Gray.
