William Rollins Gaston Anderson, SC William "Bill" Rollins Gaston, 85, beloved husband of Donna Jo Wolfe Gaston, died Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Mr. Gaston was born and grew up in Buckhannon, WV. He was a graduate of WV Wesleyan College and attended West Virginia University and Miami University for post graduate work. During the Korean War, he served in the US Army Chemical Corps. He was later employed by Owens Corning Fiberglas and was transferred to Anderson, SC, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He retired after a long career in insurance and financial planning. As former chairman of the Anderson County Election Commission, he took an active role in politics. Bill previously served as deacon of the First Baptist Church of Anderson. More recently, he was a member of the Unity Spiritual Center of Clemson/Anderson where he served on the board of trustees and as treasurer for many years. He is survived by his wife, Donna Jo, of 59 years; daughters, Jolie Gaston, Cynda G. Quigley and husband Jim, Misty G. Chidester and husband Garrick; grandsons, Jay Quigley, Ian Chidester, Eric Quigley, and Graham Chidester; brothers, James E. Gaston and wife Dorothy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Junior Gaston and Wilma Frances Rollins; and sister, Barbara Jane Gaston Fellows. The Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. with Reverend Ruth Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, at the funeral home, on Saturday, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Unity Spiritual Center of Clemson/Anderson, PO Box 212, Pendleton, SC 29670.
