William Cantwell Huggins, Jr., age 82, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at his residence. Born on November 23, 1935, in Newport News, VA, he was the son of the late William Cantwell Huggins, Sr. and the late Carolyn Nash Huggins. For thirty-six years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Wanda T. Huggins of the home. Mr. Huggins proudly served his country in the US Army Reserve. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from the University of South Carolina. He was employed for many years as an Insurance Claims Specialist. In addition to his wife, Wanda, Bill is survived by a daughter, Anne Huggins Michaud and her husband, Tom of Atlanta, GA; a son, Chris Newton and his wife, Tammy of Pompano Beach, FL; a sister Caroline Norfleet Huggins of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and two grandchildren who he loved dearly, Ansley Claire and Lyla Nash Gerretzen. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Michael London Huggins. "The Great and Wonderful Willie C. will be forever in our hearts. It was Bill's wish that his body be donated for medical research so that others could benefit. A private memorial will be held at a later time. The family would like to thank the staff of Divine Hospice for the loving care and comfort they provided Mr. Huggins and the family during his illness and death.
