Dr. William F. Lummus, M.D. died Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Edgemoor, SC, he was the son of the late Reverend Dr. Robert A. Lummus and the late Elizabeth Faulkner Lummus. Dr. Lummus attended the University of South Carolina and The Medical College of South Carolina. He did his internship at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston and was the House Officer there. Dr. Lummus did his fellowship in Hematology and Cardiology for two years at the Medical College of Alabama. After serving two years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, Dr. Lummus practiced Internal Medicine in Anderson from 1956 until 2003. He was a member of The American College of Physicians, The Medical Society of S.C., and the Rotary Club of Anderson, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. Dr. Lummus was a member of Young Memorial A.R.P. Church where he served as a deacon and an elder. He is survived by his wife, Anne Herron Lummus of the home; his sons, William F. Lummus, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Atlanta, GA, John H. Lummus and his wife Melissa of Anderson, SC; a daughter, Kathryn L. Ash and her husband Darren of Charlotte, NC; a brother, James Lawson Lummus and his wife Dorothy of Houston, TX; and seven grandchildren, William Griffin Ash, John Winston Ash, Elizabeth Faulkner Lummus, Martha Weldon Lummus, William Faulkner Lummus III, Anna Kathryn Lummus and John Herron Lummus Jr. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Young Memorial A.R.P. Church with Dr. Dean Woods and Reverend Dr. Tom Richie officiating. A private family burial will be held at Old Silver Brook Cemetery.
