William Ira McCurry, age 94, of Iva, SC, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born February 28, 1929, in Lowndesville, SC, he was a son of the late Junior "June" McCurry and Lula Evans McCurry. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, James, Jack, and Burrell McCurry; and sisters, Georgia Gray and Doris Smith.

William was a veteran of the United States Army. He began his long career with Duke Energy as a lineman, working his way up to Marketing Manager before retirement. His hobbies included carpentry and farming and he enjoyed volunteering with AIM building ramps for the handicapped and elderly. He was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church where he served in various ministries. He was a Shriner, a Mason, and a member of the American Legion. Most of all William enjoyed time with family and friends, especially gatherings at his home.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Bryant McCurry; daughters, Mary Constantine, Joanna Heaston (David), and Beth McCourry (Michael); 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

The memorial service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Union Baptist Church with Dr. James "Rudy" Gray and Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Union Baptist Church, 703 Barnes Station Rd., Iva, SC 29655.

The family will be at the home.
