William Gene Miller, age 71, of Belton, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Born on October 28, 1944, in Charlottesville, VA, he was the son of the late William Grant Miller and the late Norma Pearl Niday Miller. For twenty-nine years, Gene was the loving and devoted husband of Katherine Cole Martin Miller of the home. Mr. Miller proudly served his country in the US Army serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, and retired as an Army Reserve Drill Sergeant after twenty-six years. Following active duty in the Army, he was employed at the University of Virginia Hospital where he was a medical plasma phoresis specialist. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In addition to his wife, Katherine, Gene is survived by a son, William Gregory Miller of Waynesboro, VA; a daughter, Robyn Renee Miller of Charlottesville, VA, and a special family friend, Virginia Marie Feltner; a sister, Sharon Pilkerton and her husband, John, of Baltimore, MD; two grandchildren, Hayleigh Mersades Miller and Jaida Virginia Faith Miller; also surviving are Gene's dogs who were his constant companions, Cisco, Buck, Lexus, Shadow, and Chicata "Bitty Bit". With Katherine & Gene's marriage, their families blended with Katherine's children; Brett Martin & family, Travis Martin and family. A Memorial Service to celebrate and honor the life of William Gene Miller will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 412 Harden Road, Anderson, SC, with Bishop Byron Dial officiating. Family and friends will be invited to share their fondest memories of Gene.
