William Harold Mitchell Honea Path, SC William Harold Mitchell, age 86, of Honea Path, SC passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Ellenburg Nursing Center. Born in Belton, SC, on August 15, 1927, he was the son of the late Clarence Mitchell and the late Neva Parnell Mitchell. He worked for many years as a deputy with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office and as a police officer with The Anderson Police Department. He was also a tax collector with the City of Anderson, SC. He is survived by his wife, Helen Epps Mitchell; his sons, Reverend Terry Mitchell and his wife Rita, and Freddie Mitchell and his wife Francis, all of Anderson, SC; step-sons, Toppa Epps and his wife Leslie, of Calistoga, CA, Stan Epps and his wife, Annette, of Iva, SC, Mike Epps and his wife, Peggy, of Honea Path, SC and Steve Epps of Cathedral City, CA; a brother, J.T. Mitchell and his wife Loucille, of Cheddar, SC; a sister, Edith Snipes and her husband, Bob, of Fayetteville, NC; 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Evelyn Sheriff Mitchell; and two brothers, Billy Mitchell and Howard Mitchell. The Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Terry Mitchell and Dr. Billy Dickerson officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, prior to the service on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 13024 South Carolina, 20, Belton, SC 29627 or to Chiquola United Methodist Church, PO Box 375, Honea Path, SC 29654.
