William Carroll Owens, Sr., age 86, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Keowee Place in Seneca. Born January 27, 1935 in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late George Thurmond Owens and Della Galloway Owens. He was married for 59 wonderful years to Rebecca Ann Stairley Owens until her death in 2020. Bill was a graduate of Greenville High School and a veteran of the United States Army. He was the founder of Palmetto Commercial Refrigeration and Palmetto Helicopters. He had the reputation for being a straightforward businessman. He was most proud of his latest venture with his good friend and business partner, Clifford Bowman, Lake Hartwell Fishing and Marine. Bill was a car and motorcycle enthusiast, Mason and a Shriner. He was a faithful member of Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church where he served on the Finance and Staff Parish Relations committees and was a trustee. He is survived by his sons, Billy Owens (Julie) and Lance Owens (Missy); daughter, Christy Patton (Ray); grandchildren, Sam, Robyne, Hannah and Grace Owens, Owen and Quincy Cox, and Murray Padgett (Carrie); great grandchildren, Marsh, Tuck and Kingston; sister, Tondra Smith (Bill); and his beloved dog, Grady. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Owens and sister, Sybil Ross. The family will receive friends Monday, May 3, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Judy Hames officiating. The committal service will be at 3:00 pm at Greenville Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church, 13676 W.
